Article in the New York Times: Steeken, British team lead riding rankings

Ed Corrigan has written an article for The New York Times. The article with the title "Steeken, British team lead riding rankings" was published in the edition of 26.01.1975. The article dealt with the annualy world ranking list of show jumpers created by Max E. Ammann.

Hartwig Steeken of West Germany has been ranked No. 1 in the unofficial annual world rating of horse show riders, and Britain has been placed as the top team.

The rankings are made by Max Ammann, a Swiss equestrian journalist and editor of the Lucerne newspaper, Luzerner Tagblatt.

“The rankings,” he said, “are based on the results of 16 official international shows around the world, about 55 unofficial shows and all the major Grand Prix events held in the United States and Canada during the year.”

Max E. Ammann worked in New York (USA) as correspondent for Swiss, German and Austrian newspapers from 1964-1973. He was responsible for general themes as well as for politics, culture and sport.
