1969, in Aachen, war ich, damals in New York als Auslandskorrespondent lebend, der Einzige, der nach Übersee berichtete. In den USA selbst gab es eine kleine Schar von Pferdesport-Journalisten, die sich alljährlich bei der National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden traf, aber kaum je ins Ausland reiste.
