Max E. Ammann writes a personal column for the Swiss weekly magazine PferdeWoche on the actualities in the national and international equestrian sport.
His 103rd column with the title "Erinnerung an die Australier von 1960" was published in the edition 19 on 14.05.2014.
Im Juni 1985 flog ich an die Vor-WM Military im südaustralischen Gawler. Gawler liegt in einem Weingebiet nördlich von Adelaide, und hatte von der FEI die Ausrichtung der Military-WM von 1986 zugesprochen bekommen. Nach mehrjährigem Lobbying des australischen Geschäftsmannes Graham Fricker hatte die FEI diesen Entscheid gefällt. Es war ein Kraftakt, den man dem internationalen Dachverband nicht zugetraut hätte.
