Max E. Ammann writes a personal column for the Swiss weekly magazine PferdeWoche on the actualities in the national and international equestrian sport.
His 194th column with the title "Pferdesport im Osten Europas (2. Teil)" was published in the edition 19 on 17.05.2017.
1902 fuhren erstmals Reiter aus Osteuropa an ein internationales Reitturnier im Westen. Ziel war der CHI Turin (ITA), den man als ersten grossen, internationalen "Concours Hippique" der Pferdesportgeschichte bezeichnen kann. 147 Reiter waren am Start: eine Übermacht aus dem Veranstalterland, aber auch repräsentative Delegationen von je einem Dutzend Reitern aus Frankreich, Österreich-Ungarn, Deutschland und Russland. Dazu noch vier Belgier.
